Transport zone maps

These maps are supplied by the Ministry of Education. They show the transport zones for each school, which are the main factor in deciding whether a student is eligible for school transport.

The Ministry of Education provides an interactive map showing transport zones for all schools in New Zealand. Enter your address to see which schools you are zoned for and whether you are eligible for school transport.

How transport zones work

To be eligible for free school transport, you must firstly live a certain distance away from the nearest school that your child can attend.

If you are eligible, you can use your entitlement to attend a more distant school, but you must make your own way to the halfway point between schools. In some circumstances you can access a bus service closer to your home — please contact your school for more information.

The eligibility distances are:

3.2km
Year 1–6
4.8km
Year 7–13
Travelling beyond your nearest school

Within our Network we strongly believe that all our schools provide a top-class education and we encourage children to attend their nearest appropriate school. In the event that a parent wishes to consider a more distant school and access school transport assistance they must:

• Meet with the principal of the nearest school to discuss concerns • Complete an agreement with both schools seeking approval from the Network Committee • Pay a fare to the Network

If a family is unwilling to pay a fare they are able to avoid doing so by travelling to the TEZ boundary between schools where their child will be able to ride the bus if there is sufficient space.

Not sure if your child is eligible? Get in touch with EasyBus and we'll help you work it out.
